The three platforms we install most often at Pools-Now are Pentair, Hayward, and Madimack. Here is how they compare and where each one fits best.
Pentair (IntelliCenter & EasyTouch)
Pentair is the platform we recommend for most full-feature new builds. IntelliCenter offers the deepest control set — variable-speed pumps, multi-zone heating, lighting scenes, chemistry monitoring, and remote access through the Pentair Home app. EasyTouch is the lighter-cost option for simpler equipment pads.
- Strengths: mature ecosystem, excellent app, deep diagnostics, IntelliFlo3 VSF pump is class-leading.
- Trade-offs: higher initial price, proprietary parts.
Hayward (OmniLogic & OmniPL)
Hayward’s OmniLogic platform is a strong competitor with very good app control and integration of Hayward’s TriStar VS pumps, AquaRite salt cells, and heaters. OmniPL targets pad retrofits and smaller systems.
- Strengths: excellent value, easy retrofit on existing Hayward equipment, simple homeowner interface.
- Trade-offs: third-party device integration is more limited than Pentair.
Madimack (Smart Inverter Heat Pumps & Connected Equipment)
Madimack is the newest of the three platforms on our pads but has gained ground quickly thanks to inverter-driven heat pumps that deliver high efficiency and quiet operation. Their connected equipment integrates with the Madimack Smart app and pairs well with mixed-brand pads.
- Strengths: outstanding heat pump efficiency (great for Florida shoulder seasons), strong warranty, competitive pricing.
- Trade-offs: smaller ecosystem if you want everything from one brand.
Which Should You Choose?
- Full smart pool, one ecosystem, premium control: Pentair IntelliCenter.
- Best value for upgrading a Hayward pad: Hayward OmniLogic.
- Energy-efficient heating with smart control: Madimack inverter heat pump (often paired with a Pentair or Hayward controller).
The right answer almost always depends on what equipment is already on the pad, how you plan to heat the pool, and whether you want a single app or are comfortable running two. A short site visit usually settles it.
